Popcorn Time: Pan Movie Review

Often I go to the cinema cause the only thing that stops my brain ticking too much is a giant screen and a new world to distract me. Yesterday was one of those days, so I took myself to Neverland.. Ok I took myself to the Omniplex¬†Mahon point but same difference ūüôā

Sometimes friends begin as enemies and enemies begin as friends is the premise of this film. It tells the story of orphan Peter (Miller) who is spirited back to Neverland, there he befriends Hook (Hedlund) and the adventure to find his mother and save the island from  evil pirate Blackbeard (Jackman) commences.

Cast: Hugh Jackman, Levi Miller, Garrett Hedlund, Rooney Mara,Adeel Akhtar Continue reading

Popcorn Time: The Intern Movie Review

You know the best thing about going to the early show? The popcorn is AMAZING. That salt drying out your lips kind of amazing. Yes that is the main reason I love the cinema. Popcorn and Malteasers. I put my Malteasers into the Popcorn. Now not all at once (I’m looking at you Pam, you won’t make that mistake again lol) but bit by bit. Its heaven! Do you do it? If not.. try it.. i insist!!

Everest Movie Review

If a film starts with ‘based on a true story’ you know it’s not¬†gonna be the most cheerful of films. Everest is a film by Baltasar¬†Kormakur¬†based on the tragic events following a freak storm on Everest when Rob Hall lead a group of climbers to the highest point on Earth.

Cast:Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Emily Watson, Kiera Knightly, Sam Worthington, Jake Gyllenhaal

Kilimanjaro; reaching the top of Africa

All the group at the top- 100% sucess rate

This time two years ago I was on an adventure climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. I thought I’d bring you back with me as I explain what the whole experience was like. I know people toy with the idea of doing it and then chicken out but it really was an amazing experience and something I will always be proud of. Continue reading

Popcorn Time: Song of the Sea

Last week I had the week off work so I decided to take a trip to see the new Irish animation film Song of the Sea. I wrote up my review and in my lazy holiday mode¬†I forgot to press¬†publish (my bad)¬†so here it is..¬† ūüėõ

My sister and our two little hijacked¬†friends of 8 and 10 years old joined us, Ellen and Fionn. (I don’t always rob children for kids movies I swear haha) To be honest I probably wouldn’t have went to see this without little Ellen wanting to see it.

Popcorn Time; Jurassic World

So I’m just out of watching Jurassic World and I’m wrecked! I’m fairly sure my dreams are going to be insane mix of fearing death by giant teeth or just a loop of my sisters screams lol :p

Starring: Chris Platt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins,Nick Robinson, Irrfan Kahn, Vincent D’Onofrio

Running time: 124 mins

Cert:12A

One of my first real vivid cinema memories is sitting in the Regal Theatre, our local Clonmel cinema back in the day and hiding under my coat. A kid was hiding in a kitchen from raptors. I thought I was going to pass out with fear. These kind of memories are why I love going to the cinema to see movies rather than the small screen.   Continue reading

Popcorn Time: McFarland USA

I dunno what is going on with my film choices lately but I seemed to have really regressed to child hood movies.

My brain can’t take any heavy thinking lately (ahem ever)¬†so at the mo¬†I’m gravitating to¬†funny and uplifting stuff … ones where I check my brain out when I push play.

Luckily for my brain (but not movie world as a whole) most films seem to be like this at the mo and I am spoiled for choice.

Popcorn Time: Spy

Again a¬†futile attempt¬†to see Mad Max, this time with the lovely Lisa. ¬†IMC had their times ¬†wrong on website. (Honestly the gods do not want me to see Tom Hardy… Whyyyyyy????)

So…we had to choose between Spy and San Andreas.. This one was on first so it won.

Yeay for making the best of things when your film isn’t on for hours, cause this was so funny!
