Cartoon emotion

I wanted to try something different. A simple cartoon type image but not a caricature. Wanted to TRY have not too much detail but to convey emotion. 

I love big hair in cartoon women, I hope that’s not what she is upset about 😛

 
Artset app, no stylus. I do rather use a stylus but trying to change it up. Mix of charcoal, marker and paint at end for the dramatic highlights. I do love my contrasts.

Tonal Figure study

A glimmer of light cannot truly be seen without much that is dark, and darkness cannot truly be felt without shadowy forms rising from the blackness. (Anonymous)

Self portrait On iPad! Digits n digital

So I came across two lovely blogs this week where artists were using their iPad to ‘paint’.  Daily WIP  and Art and Words.. Check them out 🙂  I was intrigued and inspired. So I gave it a go.

Here is my first attempt! Be kind.. it took about 20 mins (including figuring out how to use the bloody app lol

Life Drawing studies…same.. same.. different?

It took me years to understand the magic of drawing. For years, I tried to make things look how they are – instead of being what they are. Drawing is an alchemic language. Some of my favourite drawings I have done with my eyes closed – or so drunk I do not remember making them.

Life drawing is fascinating. I know I keep saying this but I just love it. You can put a group of artists around the same figure and there will be that moment at the end where everyone turns their easel around (unless it was just us that did that!?!) and you are looking at totally different paintings.. how can we all see everything so differently??
