Red is a hard colour to draw on… Also I didn’t have my glasses on so details are very simple haha sometimes it makes thinks a little more interesting when you can’t see the full detail you are making 🙂 and sometimes it’s a mess when you put your glasses on lol
As for you girls, you must risk everything for Freedom, and give everything for Passion, loving everything that your hearts and your bodies love. The only thing higher for a girl and more sacred for a young woman than her freedom and her passion should be her desire to make her life into poetry, surrendering everything she has to create a life as beautiful as the dreams that dance in her imagination. – Roman Payne
God I’ve not tried the oil pastel for a while, this is on artset, quick sketch to test the waters, wanted to keep it quick, strong and dynamic.
More practice needed to get back in swing of oils, I’ve never favoured them really as I like the softness of pastel usually but it’s good to switch things up 🙂 bit of gel pain thrown in.. Just cause I felt like it lol
I am a big fan of the lovely Inari Designs. Check her out she is awesome!
On one of our many chats over blogs I saw she had collaborated with another artist on working from a painting. Great Idea i though! I’m in. I have never painted a bird before so we picked out this lovely Owl photo and today is where we both reveal our finished painting… Continue reading
“The very strength that protects the heart from injury is the strength that prevents the heart from enlarging to its intended greatness within. The song of the voice is sweet, but the song of the heart is the pure voice of heaven.”

“There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs and the tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines. Looking down, she sees that there are tigers below her as well. She then notices that a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up and she looks down. Continue reading
“Although the wind is very powerful and you can feel its presence, in and of itself it cannot be seen. You know it is there by its effect on others. The great trees, the grasses and waves on the sea bend with its force. If you are aware of your surroundings, you know it is there long before you feel it. So it is with the ineffable.”

I wanted to try something different. A simple cartoon type image but not a caricature. Wanted to TRY have not too much detail but to convey emotion.
I love big hair in cartoon women, I hope that’s not what she is upset about 😛
I hope you like.
We have a lot of Rainy Days here in Ireland. So I decided to have some fun with a little poem I wrote about a little girl who thinks it’s better to stay curled up in bed. (Ahem that’s prob me .. Always…haha)
Anyway it’s just a bit of fun..here is my first ‘page’…The next will be a double page 🙂 Continue reading
When I look in the mirror, I am slightly reminded of self-portraits by Durer and by Rembrandt, because they both show a degree of introspection. I see some element of disappointment; I see a sense of humour, but also something that is faintly ridiculous; and I see somebody who is frightened of being found out and thought lightweight.
Ok so after yesterday’s hour-long pose, I decided to do same length one again this evening.. Actually I went about an extra half hour, cause I did more detail than I thought I would -when it was working hehe.
Really enjoyed doing this…It’s on artset again. I know- addicted!! I’m just loving it. I don’t think I’ve ever done as much daily drawing.. Yeay 🙂
Added bonus is that it looks like me.. Sure it’s not perfect, but there is no doubt it’s me dances
Self portraits are handy as you are always there to model! Do you ever do any?
Let me know, share a link in comments, I would love to see 🙂
Happy weekend 🙂
A glimmer of light cannot truly be seen without much that is dark, and darkness cannot truly be felt without shadowy forms rising from the blackness. (Anonymous)
My favourite type of drawing is always focusing on light and shadow. Continue reading
