Figure study

Figure study on artset pro. Don’t know where I was going here.. Must revist:)

The natural movement of one’s soul is upwards. But just as any object is dragged down when a heavy weight is tied to it, the burden of the body drags down the soul.

God I love life drawing 🙂 here’s another experiment!

I hope you enjoy looking at her as much as I enjoyed creating her.

Take from it what you will.. An image can speak different words to everyone, don’t you think?

Male Figure: Watercolour on Artset app

“The very strength that protects the heart from injury is the strength that prevents the heart from enlarging to its intended greatness within. The song of the voice is sweet, but the song of the heart is the pure voice of heaven.”

Female Figure: Watercolour on Artset app

The women whom I love and admire for their strength and grace did not get that way because shit worked out. They got that way because shit went wrong, and they handled it. They handled it in a thousand different ways on a thousand different days, but they handled it.
Those women are my superheroes. This is who I modeled Alma Whittaker upon.

Strawberry watercolour on artset

“There is a story of a woman running away from tigers. She runs and runs and the tigers are getting closer and closer. When she comes to the edge of a cliff, she sees some vines there, so she climbs down and holds on to the vines. Looking down, she sees that there are tigers below her as well. She then notices that a mouse is gnawing away at the vine to which she is clinging. She also sees a beautiful little bunch of strawberries close to her, growing out of a clump of grass. She looks up and she looks down. Continue reading

Power

“Although the wind is very powerful and you can feel its presence, in and of itself it cannot be seen. You know it is there by its effect on others. The great trees, the grasses and waves on the sea bend with its force. If you are aware of your surroundings, you know it is there long before you feel it. So it is with the ineffable.”

ArtSet App Doodles

I’m having fun this week with my new bamboo stylus that I ordered last week from ebay. Just doodling away before I go to bed and after I’ve caught up with my telly. Currently watching Orphan Black/Nashville/Agents of Shield/Good Wife  what to watch next.. let me know if you have any good recommendations as most of those have hit the finales now.

I am really putting off watching all of Game of Thrones, as I have a tendancy to get obsessed.. lost a week of my life watching 6 seasons of Walking Dead earlier this year and got no sleep/ no painting done hahaha.. issues! Worth it though lol 😛

Life Drawing studies…same.. same.. different?

It took me years to understand the magic of drawing. For years, I tried to make things look how they are – instead of being what they are. Drawing is an alchemic language. Some of my favourite drawings I have done with my eyes closed – or so drunk I do not remember making them.

Seated Woman, charcoal

Life drawing is fascinating. I know I keep saying this but I just love it. You can put a group of artists around the same figure and there will be that moment at the end where everyone turns their easel around (unless it was just us that did that!?!) and you are looking at totally different paintings.. how can we all see everything so differently??
