Figure study

Figure study on artset pro. Don’t know where I was going here.. Must revist:)

The natural movement of one’s soul is upwards. But just as any object is dragged down when a heavy weight is tied to it, the burden of the body drags down the soul.

Figure study, charcoal and pastel

Art is not the application of a canon of beauty but what the instinct and the brain can conceive beyond any canon. When we love a woman we don’t start measuring her limbs.

Vibrant pastel lady

Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. Constantly color your picture grey, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor, and your picture begins to lighten up.
Allen Klein

This is an old pastel painting I did in Crawford. I came across it and I wanted to share it again as it brought me back to that moment in class where after the half hour we turned the easels around and I remember the teacher going WOW .. Now not because it’s an amazing drawing but because the colours are insane!  Continue reading

Reclining Woman, charcoal on wash over script

The thing women have yet to learn, is that no one gives you power. You just take it!
-Rosanne Barr

Lying down has been the theme of my week 😛 this is a charcoal drawing (with wash) just over a photocopy script. Continue reading

Cartoon emotion

I wanted to try something different. A simple cartoon type image but not a caricature. Wanted to TRY have not too much detail but to convey emotion.

I love big hair in cartoon women, I hope that’s not what she is upset about 😛

Artset app, no stylus. I do rather use a stylus but trying to change it up. Mix of charcoal, marker and paint at end for the dramatic highlights. I do love my contrasts.

I hope you like.

Happy painting

Self portrait in Green

When I look in the mirror, I am slightly reminded of self-portraits by Durer and by Rembrandt, because they both show a degree of introspection. I see some element of disappointment; I see a sense of humour, but also something that is faintly ridiculous; and I see somebody who is frightened of being found out and thought lightweight.
-Robert Winston

Ok so after yesterday’s hour-long pose, I decided to do same length one again this evening.. Actually I went about an extra half hour, cause I did more detail than I thought I would -when it was working hehe.

Really enjoyed doing this…It’s on artset again. I know- addicted!! I’m just loving it. I don’t think I’ve ever done as much daily drawing.. Yeay 🙂

Added bonus is that it looks like me.. Sure it’s not perfect, but there is no doubt it’s me dances

Self portraits are handy as you are always there to model! Do you ever do any?

Let me know, share a link in comments, I would love to see 🙂

Happy weekend 🙂
