Popcorn Time: The Intern Movie Review

You know the best thing about going to the early show? The popcorn is AMAZING. That salt drying out your lips kind of amazing. Yes that is the main reason I love the cinema. Popcorn and Malteasers. I put my Malteasers into the Popcorn. Now not all at once (I’m looking at you Pam, you won’t make that mistake again lol) but bit by bit. Its heaven! Do you do it? If not.. try it.. i insist!!

Anyway.. I got off track.. The Intern tells the story of newly retired widower Ben Whittaker- De Niro. He has traveled the world, learned to cook but is bored. He takes the opportunity to become a senior intern and ends up with hard-working Jules Ostin- Hathaway.

Cast: Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo, Anders Holm, Andrew Rannells, Adam DeVine, Zach Pearlman.

Running Time: 121 mins

Ah don’t be rushing to see this one… Its more of a lets pass the time and I feel like eating popcorn cinema trip. I had to take a minute and think was it a comedy or not. It’s not really funny. It has a few good moments and a few laughs but that’s about it.

Typical facial expressions all the film :P

Typical facial expressions all the film 😛

De Niro is great as always. He was so perfect and lovable as Ben. I just wanted to adopt a Ben! Hathaway.. here’s the thing.. everyone seems to dislike poor Hathaway.. but that makes me want to like her. Nicola pointed out watching this that I like the underdog so I’m predisposed to like her now to go against the grain. BUT she is great in this film and even if you aren’t a fan she is watchable. Her wardrobe is AMAZING in it.

The Intern Boys

The Boys provide a giggle

Nothing really happens in this film.. its easy watching but lets itself down in a lackluster ending. It handles the women in business side well, it has some pretty insightful moments about women, older people, retirement and technology and most importantly why don’t people tuck their shirts in anymore!?!

The Romance...

The Romance…

I loved how all the young people gravitated around Ben for his insights and wisdom with women. It provided some funny moments. As did his budding romance with office masseuse Fiona.

Review: As you can tell, nothing much happens in this but its easy watching. I would save the trip to cinema unless you have seen everything and just want an easy watch and popcorn. Few laugh out loud moments but will have forgotten it in a few months.

Rating 2.5/5

Are you going to see anything good this weekend? Let me know!! Loads of good films on the way!! love this time of year 🙂
