Again a futile attempt to see Mad Max, this time with the lovely Lisa. IMC had their times wrong on website. (Honestly the gods do not want me to see Tom Hardy… Whyyyyyy????)
So…we had to choose between Spy and San Andreas.. This one was on first so it won.
Yeay for making the best of things when your film isn’t on for hours, cause this was so funny!
Starring: Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale, Nargis Fakhri, Allison Janney, Jude Law
Running time: 120 mins
Spy tells the story of (desk bound) CIA operate Susan Cooper played by Melissa McCarthy. Cooper gets a chance to go out into the field after her partner Bradley Fine (Jude Law) is indisposed and all the main agents are too well known. Her mission track the deadly Rayna (Rose Byrne plus a truck of hair extensions) and find the location of a deadly nuke.
This comedy is hysterical, I actually laughed the whole way through. (Yes I snorted once or twice.. it wasn’t pretty) If you didn’t like her film The Heat (or if you have no sense of humour) then this isn’t for you! Admittedly it’s funnier than The Heat but it is definitely along the same lines. Utter silliness 🙂
The film takes you all over Europe.. I am now googling prices of trips to Paris and Rome dreams
The cast is great. Jason Statham is genuinely funny as Agent Rick Ford, a loopy agent who likes to curse and talk himself up. Miranda Hart is as usual top-notch and Rose Byrne is as great as ever.
But the real star is McCarthy.. I kind of think she can be a bit hit and miss.. Some of her comedies are not so funny but my test of a movie is the phone check, I didn’t glance at my phone once, even to just check time, so it has to be good 🙂
Review: Laugh out loud comedy, funny for men and women. One for a date or bring a group of buddies if you all want a giggle. Adult humour, lots of cursing and a few graphic images. But very funny. Try not to choke on your popcorn laughing 🙂
My Rating: 4/5
Eek..I hope I didn’t build it up for you .. Nothing worse than being told a film is great before you go in and being disappointed ha Quick, forget all this after you book your ticket. Check you’re brain and P.C. at the door and enjoy 🙂
